Cowboy Coffee Co.
Jackson Hole's hometown roaster pours a nitro cold brew that's better company than it is coffee — solid, a little bitter, and exactly what you want before the Tetons.
Cowboy Coffee has been roasting in Jackson Hole since 1989 and has the local hardware to show for it — voted the valley's best coffee shop about a decade running. The shop sits on the boardwalk a block from the town square's antler arches, and in late September the whole scene is doing its best postcard impression.
The brew
The nitro cold brew pours properly — dense cascade, creamy head — and drinks solidly, with a little bitterness underneath that keeps it out of the upper tier. It's a mountain-town cup: roasted for people heading somewhere, built to hold up against altitude appetites and a breakfast burrito, not to win a cupping. Perfectly good. Not haunting.
The space
Exactly what the name promises — timber, western trim, and a line of hikers, guides, and tourists that moves fast. It's a fueling station with local pride, and the town square location makes it the natural first stop of a Jackson morning.
The story
A 35-year-old independent roaster surviving — thriving — a block from one of the most touristed squares in the Rockies is its own kind of achievement. The nitro tap is the modern touch on an operation that's otherwise proudly old-school, chili and cinnamon rolls included.
Verdict: 7.5/10 — the first score below 8 published here, on purpose. Worth the stop when you're in Jackson; not worth planning Jackson around. And an honest scale needs cups like this on the record.
