Anchorhead Coffee
A roastery that literally started as a cold brew bottling operation — and it shows. Still, nitro, chocolate-milk, even Citra-hopped: this is Seattle's cold brew deep end.
Anchorhead began with two audio engineers roasting in a garage and bottling cold brew for farmers markets, which explains everything about the menu: this is the rare shop where cold brew isn't a line item, it's the origin story.
The brew
The nitro is dialed — dense cascade, cocoa and toasted nut, a finish with real length. But the reason to come is the bench depth: cold brew still, nitro, cut with chocolate milk, or steeped with Citra hops. The hopped version shouldn't work and completely does — the cold steep pulls the floral citrus out of the hops and leaves the bitterness behind, like a coffee IPA with no crimes committed.
The space
Downtown Seattle polish, taps lined up like a beer bar, house syrups in labeled bottles. It's busy and it's earned; the line moves like the staff have done this ten thousand times, because they have.
The story
America's Best Espresso winners who never abandoned the drink that started the company. In the most coffee-saturated city in the country, they carved out the cold brew corner and kept it.
Verdict: the deepest cold brew menu on this site. Start with the nitro; leave with a bottle.
